Who We Are

The Edge Education Foundation (TEEF) is the charity arm of The Edge. It was set up in January 2008 and was then known as Sunrise Education Foundation (SEF). The foundation's sole programme then was a small scholarship programme for primary school and university students. In 2012, the foundation was renamed The Edge Education Foundation (TEEF).

The last student whom the foundation had supported since she was in primary school completed her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) in 2020 and passed with flying colours, obtaining 9As and a B.

Since 2016, the work of The Edge Education Foundation has grown to encompass promoting financial literacy among young people. TEEF designed and launched Money & Me: Youth Financial Empowerment Programme as a co-curricular programme for Form 4 students in 2016 at five schools in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. In 2017, Cekap Duit: Cakap Tentang Duit, a joint programme with local NGO Malaysian CARE, was launched at Sekolah Integriti Kajang (SIK), a school at Kajang Prison for incarcerated youth aged 16 to 25.

The scholarship programme for university students came to an end after the first batch of beneficiaries had completed their studies. However, it was revived in 2016. The foundation currently supports 16 university students through TEEF scholarships.

The Edge is the official organiser of The Edge Kuala Lumpur Rat Race®. Since its inception in 2000, the Rat Race has raised RM24.28 million from Corporate Malaysia to support NGOs and non-profits that run programmes related to education, training and skills development. Part of the funds raised from The Edge Kuala Lumpur Rat Race® is also used to support the foundation's financial literacy and scholarship programmes.
